Size
As you can see, the diameter of the pearl represented by mm( millimeters) is called “size”. In case of pearl necklaces, they’re usually written “minimum size to maximum size”. Here is the example for the picture at right “7.5mm-8.0mm.” As for the Akoya pearls, they’re transcribed in a 0.5mm unit, on the other hand, South Sea pearl is in a 1.0mm unit. Basically the necklace is made to be the subtle gradation of size from larger to smaller from the center for the edge. Luster
The regard as important is pearl luster. Of course either having blemish or not is important, too. Because the each person preference is different, of course I cannot say unconditionally, but we think that beautiful luster shining from the inside is the greatest charm of the pearl. A thing of the luster to give off the brightness that is stronger than a thing of the luster that was absentminded in evaluating a pearl is done with good quality. The luster of pearls is deeply affected to thickness, uniformity, nacreous layer, and the surface fluency. In addition, as well as a reflection of the light of the simple pearl surface, the thing which light reflected back by the inside of the pearl is stronger, beautiful and ideal. A method to identify luster is that you should watch the pearl and confirm how clearly the face of own is crowded. As for the pearl of good luster, the face of own is reflected to look in a mirror.
Nacre
“The winding” means the thickness of a nacreous layer surrounding the central core of the pearl and good winding means thick nacreous layer. It is often said that the pearl with good winding has good luster. Seeing from the durable point of view, the good winding pearl is resistant to the separation of pearl layer and degradation over time. It’s also evaluated whether a nacreous layer is surrounded uniformly in addition to the thickness of the pearls. Since the pearl which is so-called “half winding” is only one side wound up, the value gets lower. Also its color changes extremely by an angle. Blemish
The pearl is the very delicate jewelry, so it’s possible that during cultivated and in process of manufacture, it may get the blemish. Blemish means for example dimple or circle. Blemish spoils the beauty of the surface of pearls, that’s why the value of the pearl depends on the number of, size, kind and position. After all the pearl value rises if there are few wounds, but it is said that the pearl having some blemishes is not a bad quality. No blemish pearls are scarcely seen, sometimes the blemish can be the proof of the true pearl.
Color
The color of the pearl does not have a general standard like a diamond. And the color varies by the kind of the pearl. As for the Akoya pearl with pink or white, it’s called non-toning pearl, and the South Sea pearl in white, Golden in golden, especially the dark Golden color with the depth, the Tahitian pearls in Peacock colors are popular. However, it’s impossible to jump to a conclusion like “this pearl has a good color.” un-conditionally, there is the preference for each people.
